about the Selwyn region
The Selwyn Region stretches across the great Canterbury Plains and is bounded by the Rakaia and Waimakariri Rivers, with Arthur’s Pass National Park in the Southern Alps to the west and the Pacific Ocean to the east.

It is truly a place like no other. Take a breath of fresh air and appreciate Selwyn’s diverse landscapes. The dramatic Southern Alps and rolling foothills rise above the fields. The rivers flow from the high country across the rural plains, out to Te Waihora/Lake Ellesmere and the coast. The patchwork plains are home to farms and small towns across the region.
